Austin-Healey 100/6 Longbridge BN4 1957 TDG 521 is an original UK right hand drive car built 17th July 1957 and first registered 27th August 1957 in Gloucester. The car has been continuously registered with original registration number.
TDG 521 is a very good example of the early Austin Healey that has been upgraded very sensibly with well chosen components.Since restoration in 1987 the car has driven just 11,000 miles, has always been garaged with no winter use which supports the good condition of the car today. The car is very well documented with bills and service notes since 1987. MOTs and tax discs are included in the file.
TDG 521 is a matching numbers car, factory fitted options include, wire wheels, overdrive, laminated windscreen, heater and adjustable steering column. Purchased by current owner in June 1984 from John Chatham Cars who had carried out a bare metal body restoration into primer plus rebuilt engine bored out to 3 litres and with a Mk 3 cam. The car was painted by Healey specialist Peter Ellis. Many parts were replaced at that time including bushes, a re-cored radiator. New water hoses. New engine aearbox mounting, rebuilt carburettors, new heat shield, refurbished prop shaft, new wiring loom and electrical parts, alternator, a new heater blower motor fitted. Head lights were upgraded to halogen. new brake and clutch copper piping fitted. The car was fully re-trimmed with leather as original in blue navy with white piping and front inertia reel seat belts.
Since 1987 the owner has continuously maintained and improved the car. New Parts fitted include side screens, blue vinyl hood and tonneau cover, rear splined hubs., water pump, rebuilt distributor. heater matrix. The front suspension, steering box has been rebuilt with new idler. New rear brake cylinders and relined shoes.. New clutch master cylinder and rebuilt slave and all instruments have been rebuilt. The following upgrades have been fitted :-Uprated rear springs, Dennis Welch front disk brake conversion., Dennis Welch rear engine oil seal, Dennis Welch spin-on oil filter, Dennis Welch 5 moulded bladed fan, stainless steel brake and clutch flexible hoses. Rear drums powder coated, new speedo right angle drive; speedo and tacho cables., geared starter motor, solid state fuel pump, pressure regulator and filter, Pertronix contactless ignition, modern style removable key battery master switch, voltmeter, alternator conversion.
Other new parts include:- As original 48 spoke wire wheels and tyres, rear shocks, stainless steel exhaust system and exhaust wrap around downpipes to reduce cockpit heat, Bosch silver battery. TDG 521 is offered for sale with Austin Workshop Manual reprint and original Austin Parts List since purchase in 1984. A new MOT has just been secured.
