Austin Healey 3000 MKI 432 UYJ restored - 1959 | £42500 | Right Hand Drive
Now Sold This car is a 1959 Austin Healey 3000 MKI BT7 finished in the ever popular Ice blue and Ivory paint scheme and built in the Abingdon factory in March 1959 as a left hand drive car exported to Florida. Original purchase specification included wire wheels, overdrive, adjustable steering column, heater and laminated windscreen. The car was imported to the UK in 1998 and purchased by the last owner who commissioned a full restoration. This car was 90% restored approximately 13 years ago. We are advised that the car had a bare metal re-spray, refurbished engine and gearbox. Many new parts were purchased including wiring loom, electrical items, lights, navy leather seats, interior, carpet, mohair hood, side screens, rubber mounts and mechanical parts. This car represents exceptional value by being recently re-assembled and freshly refurbished throughout. As such the car drives superbly; just like a £80,000+ freshly restored car. The engine is very strong, with excellent oil pressure and remarkable pickup. The gearbox being refurbished prior to re-assembly shifts very cleanly through all gears and the overdrive engages smooth and promptly. The car handles exceedingly well with new suspension throughout. More importantly the chassis is incredibly strong with no flex or scuttle shake common in high mileage or poorly restored cars. As such this vehicle feels well planted on the road and rides nicely. The car will be sold with a new MOT (technically mot not required). Showing just 1600 odometer miles since the restoration the car is an interesting prospect if you do not have the budget for a new restoration.
